SCALE (Sophomore Class Atlanta Leadership Experience)

SCALE is an experience all sophomores have the opportunity to participate in. You are given a SCALE site and participate in a one week long externship. My site was City Schools of Decatur. Our group got to see the behind the scenes of running a school district by attending board meetings, visiting the middle and high schools, and interviewing people in various positions in the district.
Ring Ceremony
February 2025
The ring ceremony is a tradition at several historical women's colleges. It is a ceremony to recognize sophomores joining the "Black Ring Mafia" and cementing their place in the Agnes Scott Community.
Global Immersion Experience: Cuba
March 2024
The spring of your first year, you participate in your Global Journey. You get to choose a location and class topic and then the semester leading up to spring break you study said topic. The first week of spring break is when you go on your immersion experience.
My destination was Cuba and my course was "Spirituality, Alternative Medicine, Diversity, Ecology, and the Many Peoples of Cuba". We spent half the time in Viñales; mountain hiking, visiting a starfish reserve, working in a tobacco farm, and more. The second half was spent in the city where we focused more on the history of Cuba.
