My absolute favorite thing I've gotten to do at my internship with She Soars is community outreach. I have participated in four in person activities, each more fun than the last.

The first was the Girls on the Run (GOTR) 5k, which I participated in before my internship as a volunteer. While there, I ran the She Soars vendor table. The GOTR audience was a bit younger than She Soars' target audience (middle school through college), which meant a lot of the resources we had, I was sharing with the parents. We interacted with the 5k participants through our prize wheel, where the girls had to answer questions or do activities to win prizes.

The second event I attended was the Southern Black Girls 2025 Dream Conference. Over the course of two days, She Soars attended workshop sessions, discussion panels, and interacted with conference attendees through our vendor table (where we had posters, resources, and games).

The third event I attended was United Way of Greater Atlanta's African American Partnership Day of Service. My supervisor and myself attended as mentors. Throughout the event, we went from workshop to workshop with a group of rising high school seniors and rising college freshman.

We attended two workshops with them. One was about sexual health and HIV/AIDS prevention and the second was about Ransomware attacks and cyber security. After the workshops, everyone came together for a community lunch and a talk about the importance of taking care of your mental health from the keynote speaker, Chris James, from Black Boys Better (an organization promoting Black boys mental health).

The most recent event I have participated in was She Soars' "Goal Setting, Visualization, and Meditation", which I led (alongside high school intern Kennedi). The workshop was hosted by St. Peter Missionary Baptist church, as part of She Soars' partnership with MAMA (Metropolitan Atlanta Ministerial Association). We taught a group of students how to set acheivable goals through the SMART criteria (Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Based). After a discussion, Kennedi led the group in a guided meditation to help them visualize how it would feel to accomplish their goals.

The workshop culminated in the group creating vision boards to hang up in their homes as a visual reminder of their goals.
